About The Hêlios Project
The Hêlios Project is a project that will identify the best Course Structure to increase the learning outcomes of STEM education within senior primary school students before they enter the high school space. This will be using the theoretical teachings of solar technology and aerodynamics, and practical teachings of building a model solar car that can be used in the Tasmanian Model Solar Car Challenge. This project is being put forward because students should be taught STEM at a younger age as it is integrated in all fields, and teachers in the primary schools don’t have the support or resources in order to achieve this teaching. Students will undergo inquiry and project based learning, including keeping a journal of what they do each lesson taught. The Hêlios Project will establish teacher understanding as well as student understanding of STEM in the classroom.
